Dr Cornelius has a special Interest in Refractive surgery and Corneal Disease.
Refractive surgery include phakic intra-ocular lens implants, PRK procedures, Femto-lasik as well as ReLex SMILE procedure. The Refractive laser surgeries are performed with the VisuMax Femtosecond laser system, combined with the MEL90 Excimer platform. The Femtosecond laser system is used in the accurate placing of intra-stromal corneal ring segments to improve corneal topography in keratoconus patients.
Modern corneal grafts procedures address the diseased part of the cornea. Endothelial keratoplasty (EK) is performed for endothelial disease and Deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty (DALK) is performed for stromal disease. Occasionally a full thickness corneal graft (PKP) is indicated when endothelial and stromal disease co-exist.
